Christian Louboutin has launched The Diwali Edit, a limited-edition collection that celebrates India’s culture and vibrant colors. Available in India from October 15, 2024, the capsule combines elements from Louboutin’s previous designs with the artistry of India, reflecting the importance of Diwali to the designer.
The Diwali Edit centers around ribbons that Christian Louboutin personally collected during his trips to India, each chosen from his own selection of fabrics. The colors in the collection capture the festive energy of India, featuring vibrant fuchsia, teal, yellow and red, with touches of gold throughout.
The women’s line in Louboutin’s Diwali edit brings a fresh take to some of the brand’s classic styles. One key design is the Lady Bombay Diwali 85, along with its flat version, both influenced by the spirit of Mumbai. The shoes feature a mix of rhinestones and fishnet, with the pointed toes adding a feminine touch.
There is also the Kate Diwali 85. This India-exclusive style brings together the look of Louboutin’s Kate pumps and Indian festive fabrics. The collection also includes the Diwalina Flat and Diwalina 55 Slide Sandals in gold nappa laminate.
The Pyraclou Diwali 110 and Pyraclou Diwali 60 wedges feature saffron and blue, two colors tied to the meaning of Diwali. Saffron represents spices and spirituality, while blue is believed to ward off the evil eye.
For men, Louboutin’s Diwali edit features two styles: Night on the Gange Diwali and Marcantonia Diwali.
Night on the Gange Diwali is inspired by the sacred Ganges River and celebrates Diwali’s message of light triumphing over darkness. The dark fabric is paired with gold spikes, while the Marcantonia Diwali blends black and gold with detailed patterns.
The collection’s leather goods also embrace the Diwali theme. The Loubi54 Small Clutch, covered in golden rhinestones, is a shining accessory. The Paloma Clutch too has been updated with gold spikes, a flap front, hand-stitched edges and a metallic chain strap, making it easy to wear as a crossbody or on the shoulder.
