After seeing great results from its recent launches, Mercedes-Benz India is gearing up to surprise its customers with two new high-end luxury cars, both priced over ₹1.5 crore. These additions are expected to hit the Indian market soon, shared a senior company executive with The Hindu.

“We had announced plans to introduce 12 new cars this year, and with the three variants of the LWB E-Class released today, we’ve hit that target,” said Santosh Iyer, MD & CEO in a conversation with the publication. “However, we’re not stopping there. In November and December, we’re set to launch two more luxury cars, both priced over INR 1.5 crore, bringing the total to 14 cars this year.”

He shared that Mercedes-Benz India achieved its best-ever Q3 sales performance, also setting a record for the highest sales in its history for the January-September period. The company delivered 14,379 cars, marking a 13% increase, with 5,117 units sold in Q3 alone—a 21% year-on-year growth. Sales of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) saw an 84% rise, and compared to the same time last year, they were up by 140%. BEVs now make up 6% of total sales, up from 2.5%.

He mentioned that sales were strong across regions, with the North and West contributing 35% and the South and the rest of India making up 30% each.

On Wednesday, Mercedes-Benz India introduced three new variants of its E-Class Long Wheel Base: the E200 (petrol), E220d and E450 4MATIC (petrol), with starting prices of INR 78.5 lakh, INR 81.5 lakh and INR 92.5 lakh.

Deliveries for the E200 will begin this week, with the E220d set to arrive around Diwali and the E450 starting in November. For the E450, franchise partners are currently gathering “Expressions of Interest” from potential buyers.

Crash and emission tests for these models were conducted in Germany and Spain to meet Mercedes-Benz’s strict quality standards. In a step towards greater localisation, the side and quarter windows are now produced in India. These vehicles will also feature eight airbags, including a driver knee airbag and for the first time, a centre airbag.
