Many in the fashion world would agree that Gucci, with its interlocking G’s, does not slip in quietly, it makes a grand entrance. Even the brand’s more subtle designs have a knack for making a splash. This bold approach is mirrored in their watchmaking, where they have carved out a notable presence. Although fine watchmaking might not be the first thing that comes to mind with Gucci, the brand has been crafting timepieces since 1972.
Bringing their flair into the field of timekeeping, Gucci made the move by setting up shop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland—right at the hub of the watchmaking industry. It is here that their watches are engineered and assembled. Since then, the collections they have produced have varied and are coveted among fashion lovers and collectors.
For its newest collection, Gucci has turned its attention, once again, to the thrill-seekers who live for adventure. The brand has introduced five new models in the Gucci Dive series, with each watch featuring impressive updates, including water resistance up to 30ATM (980 feet/300 meters), a unidirectional ceramic bezel for secure underwater timing and a Swiss-made movement with a 56-hour power reserve.
The five new 40mm automatics from Gucci prove that the magic lies in the details. Each watch has a vibrant dial with the brand’s signature motif, while the case backs sport a wind rose, a nod to their link to maritime navigation and nautical roots. Among these, two classic models with green and blue dials come with stainless steel bracelets to fit their cases.
Three of the quartz models come with rubber straps that match the colours of their dials, lending them a sportier edge. The GUCCI script is embellished on these straps, adding a tactile touch to their comfortable fit. These are available in blue, green and black—the latter version being made with a PVD-coated steel case with bold red accents on the bezel and hands.
What started as a limited edition has now become a core part of Gucci’s collection. Dive watches, once a special release, have settled in as a mainstay in Gucci’s lineup, proving they’re here to stay.
