Kia’s EV9 is gearing up for its debut in India, following its earlier reveal in global markets. As the launch approaches, the specifications for the new EV9 have been revealed. With its dual-motor option focused on performance and other smart features, the car looks ready to shake things up in the Indian electric SUV scene.
Here’s what the electric giant has in store:
Exterior
The Kia EV9 stretches over 5 meters, giving it a strong presence on the road. While it has the traditional boxy SUV shape, its modern design details catch your eye. The grille features digital pattern lighting and the vertically aligned headlights, along with LED DRLs called star map lighting, create a dynamic, animated effect.
Inside the Cabin
Inside, the Kia EV9 keeps things simple with a minimalist dashboard in black, paired with dual-tone white and black leatherette seats. The centerpiece of the interior is a triple-screen setup, featuring two 12.3-inch screens connected by a 5.3-inch display for climate controls. Just below, touch-sensitive controls blend into the dashboard, allowing easy access to features like start/stop, climate control, media and more. In the second row, you’ll find captain seats equipped with 8-way power adjustment and a massage function.
The car comes packed with some thoughtful features, including individual sunroofs for both the first and second rows, a digital rearview mirror and a relaxation mode for the seats, complete with leg support. On the safety front, the EV9 is equipped with level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), offering features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
Engine and Powertrain
The SUV will come with a 99.8 kWh battery pack, providing plenty of power for your drives. It supports 350 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. Plus, with the V2L (vehicle-to-load) feature, you can even use the car’s battery to charge your external devices.
Expected Pricing
Launching on October 3, the Kia EV9 is anticipated to start at around INR 80 lakh (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, it aims to be a more budget-friendly option compared to the BMW iX and the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, making electric luxury more accessible for many.
