The digital age has redefined the concept of luxury homes. From centralised control systems, energy-efficient solutions, eco-friendly innovations, robust cybersecurity measures and advanced water and waste management systems to the integration of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) systems has further elevated the living experience, preparing one for a convenient, comfortable and contemporary lifestyle.

According to research conducted by Future Market Insights, the Indian smart home automation industry is valued at INR 5.9 lakh crore ($7,136.8 million) in 2024 and is projected to reach INR 54 lakh crore ($65,084.3 million) by 2034. This remarkable growth underscores the rapid advancement of home automation technology that will allow effortless control at the touch of a button.

Ajay Arya, interior designer and founder of A Square Designs, stated, “The trend of smart and integrated home automation has surged in India and is set to evolve further to align with contemporary lifestyles. Integrated home automation seamlessly incorporates technology into everyday routines, making homes smarter and more responsive to individual needs. These systems manage everything from lighting to security, emphasising a cohesive and intuitive experience that enhances comfort and convenience without unnecessary complexity.”

AI-driven personalisation, voice-controlled environments and invisible technology that integrates seamlessly with home design are setting new benchmarks in luxury home automation. The modern standard is smart systems that anticipate residents’ needs, providing effortless control over lighting, climate and security—all activated by a simple touch or voice command.

Arya says, “AI is propelling home automation toward predictive technology that intuitively meets user needs,” explains Arya. “Additionally, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are enhancing immersive home control experiences, allowing homeowners to visualize lighting changes and design spaces in real time. These innovations elevate interaction and customization in home automation to unprecedented levels.”

Luxury homeowners with purchasing capacity look to add a touch of contemporary living to their homes. They prefer technical wonders such as centralised control systems that manage lighting, climate, security, and entertainment through smartphones. AI-powered voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri have become integral to modern living, enabling users to control their smart devices with simple voice commands. This makes home automation more accessible and convenient than ever before.

“These centralised control systems rely on IoT (Internet of Things) technology, which connects devices and systems through a unified platform. Homeowners can easily manage everything from lighting to security via apps or smart hubs. The foundation of this technology includes wireless communication protocols, cloud computing and AI-driven interfaces,” he explains.

Smart Lighting, the New Buzzword

Talk of luxury living and thoughtful elements in smart lighting systems help in enhancing your lifestyle. Smart lighting systems include adaptive brightness settings, motion sensors and energy-efficient LED fixtures. Personalised lighting scenes, which adjust according to time of day or activity, add a touch of luxury while optimising energy use. Integration with natural light also plays a key role in both ambiance and efficiency.

Aryaman Jain, CEO, Innovative Design Studio (IDS) curates an exclusive selection of lights that cater to design connoisseurs. One standout offering is the Wersailles collection by Beau & Bien, designed by Sylvie Maréchal. This collection presents a modern interpretation of the classic aesthetics found in French châteaux, blending exquisite French craftsmanship with cutting-edge LED technology. Crafted from fine Limoges porcelain, these lights showcase exceptional artisanal skill, featuring 156 integrated LEDs that emit a warm light at 3300°K and 105 lumens. The elegant candlesticks are suspended by isolated steel cables and come equipped with dimmable lighting, which can be controlled via a remote or domotic pilot, ensuring seamless compatibility with smart home systems.

Falgun Shroff, Co-founder & Promoter, and Nikunj Shah, Partner at Sources Unlimited, a pioneer in high-end lighting solutions in the Indian market, shine a light on the Skan pendant lights. Designed for minimal volume and maximum functionality, these lights are a versatile addition to any interior space. “Skan pendant lights feature energy-efficient LED technology, ensuring long-lasting illumination. The pendant is equipped with a steel canopy and diffuser that casts a broad, bright and dimmable light, providing flexibility in creating the desired lighting ambiance. Available in a wide range of sizes and configurations, the lamps can be customized from a single diffuser to clusters of three or five elements,” they explain.

The Future of Home Automation: A Brighter Tomorrow

Modern homebuyers prioritise smart technology and that enhances convenience and sustainability. These homes feature efficient energy management, climate control, lighting, and solar panel systems that integrate renewable energy sources, making them not only smarter but also more sustainable. With automated energy management, smart thermostats, and real-time monitoring, these luxurious homes minimise carbon footprints without compromising on comfort.

With AI-driven ecosystems providing complete control, personalisation and sustainability, the future of home automation is becoming increasingly promising. “Homes will become even more intuitive, with technology that seamlessly adapts to users’ needs and lifestyles. We can expect greater integration of renewable energy, enhanced security and immersive experiences through AR and VR,” concludes Arya.
