Valentino is marking Diwali in India with a special touch. Since setting up in the country last year, the Italian brand has introduced its first India-specific design—a collection of 25 limited-edition VSLING bags. Each champagne-gold top-handle bag carries a detailed pattern of crystals and colors, woven by Indian artisans. It took around 18.5 hours to bring each piece to life.
“The Valentino Garavani VSling bag is reinterpreted with exquisite embroideries for an exclusive, limited quantity launch in India,” the brand shared in a press release. “Atop the bag’s leather base, cascading teardrop crystals, finely cut stones and delicate beads are carefully embroidered, acting as a glimmering adornment to the bag’s sophisticated silhouette.”
In the lead-up to Diwali, it’s no surprise that shoppers in India go all out, picking up everything from fresh lehengas to new shoes and bags. This season is one of the biggest for retailers, with Indian festivals like Diwali standing out as key times to bring out special collections—similar to how brands worldwide approach events like Chinese New Year or Christmas. Valentino’s latest crystal-adorned bag reflects this shift, showing how global brands are increasingly recognizing Diwali as a major moment in India’s shopping calendar.
The bags hit shelves in New Delhi and Mumbai starting October 24, marking a step that shows just how much India’s role is expanding for luxury brands.
