Mercedes-Benz has introduced the refreshed AMG G 63 in India, starting at INR 3.60 crore (ex-showroom). The new model gets a few design tweaks, added features and some important mechanical upgrades to keep things fresh.

What’s new with the Mercedes-AMG G 63 facelift? The design changes are subtle but noticeable. The front bumper has been tweaked slightly with vertical slats, and the radiator grille now has a dark chrome finish. The A-pillars have been gently rounded, and a new lip has been added to the windscreen—both aimed at improving aerodynamics and cutting down noise. These updates take cues from the electric version’s development. At the back, there’s an option to go for a carbon fibre-finished spare wheel cover.

The G-Class now brings a practical touch with keyless entry and go, a first for the model. Inside, there’s a big upgrade as well. Every G-Class model, including the AMG G 63, now comes with the MBUX infotainment system, the same one found in the GLS facelift. It features two 12.3-inch screens for the driver’s display and controls, and for the first time, the system is a touchscreen. It also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Sound gets a boost too with an 18-speaker, 760-watt Burmester system and there’s a new three-spoke AMG performance steering wheel.

The off-road control panel in the centre of the dashboard has been redesigned for easier access to important functions. Other upgrades include temperature-controlled cup holders, a wireless phone charger and a variety of customization options—31 MANUFAKTUR upholstery choices and 29 paint colors in addition to the standard ones.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 facelift now features a 48V mild-hybrid system alongside its M177 3,982cc V8 engine. While it still delivers 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque, the mild-hybrid tech adds an extra 22 hp boost. The vehicle keeps the familiar 9-speed DCT automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

For those looking for an upgraded ride, the AMG G 63 offers an optional AMG Active Ride Control, a unique suspension system that first appeared on the AMG SL 63. This feature comes standard with the AMG Performance package, increasing the top speed to 240 kph. According to Mercedes-Benz India, the updated AMG G 63 can go from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.3 seconds, and for the first time, it also includes a launch control function.

The off-road capabilities of the G 63 remain impressive, with a ground clearance of 229 mm, a water-wading depth of 700 mm and a 31-degree approach angle. It can handle inclines of up to 35 degrees with ease. Plus, you can now opt for 22-inch alloy wheels with a centre-locking mechanism.

As for deliveries in India, Mercedes-Benz has announced that the first batch of 120 units is already on the way. Customers who reserve their AMG G 63 now can expect to receive their vehicles by Q3 2025.
