Mercedes-Benz has introduced the latest version of its E-Class long wheelbase sedan to India, marking the sixth generation of this model. While the E-Class has been around globally for a while, it’s been a familiar name in India for nearly 30 years. Now that it’s officially arrived in India, let’s dive into what this popular luxury sedan brings to the table.

The new E-Class takes after Mercedes’ EQ electric vehicle lineup with a similar design. It has a bold chrome grille up front, centered with the iconic tri-star logo and surrounded by smaller ones. A glossy black panel, inspired by the EQ range, links the LED high-performance headlights. The sedan now comes with updated alloy wheels and 3D star-patterned tail lights. As for its size, the E-Class has grown slightly, adding 14 mm to its length, now measuring 5092 mm and an extra 13 mm in height. The wheelbase has also been stretched by 15 mm, reaching 3094 mm.

The interior has received a significant update, with a sleek and futuristic feel. It now comes equipped with AI-powered MBUX ‘Superscreens,’ featuring a 14.4-inch central infotainment display, a 12.3-inch screen for the passenger and a similar-sized driver display. The audio is handled by a Burmester 4D system. Additional features include soft-close doors, a panoramic sunroof, 4-zone climate control, a wireless charger for the back seats, rear seat recline up to 36 degrees and electric sun blinds.

The E-Class comes with two engine options: a 2-litre petrol engine producing 204 hp and a 2-litre diesel engine with 197 hp. Both are paired with a 9-speed gearbox and come with a 48V mild hybrid system that adds an extra 23 hp and 205 Nm of torque for an extra boost. However, the India-spec E-Class doesn’t feature air suspension for now.
